The MMC PHO provides a mechanism for willing payers to contract with hospitals and physicians on a network basis. This reduces duplication for both the PHO and the payer and can create a more effective working relationship based on a broader, more integrated healthcare delivery system. On behalf of the physicians, the MMC PHO

• Enters into risk sharing contracts
• Provides reimbursement opportunities through clinical incentive programs
• Facilitates Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) contracts via messenger model process
• Audits paid claims to ensure contract compliance
